Language Analyst

Education:

  • Post graduation in English/Journalism/Mass Communication
  • Professional degree/diploma in Instructional Design preferred
  • Knowledge and experience of textbook editing highly required
  • Should be post graduate in English or MBA.

  • Ability to create, maintain, and enhance writing standards and guidelines

Job Description: The preferred candidate would be required to review the high level design, table of content, case studies/scenarios, and chapters of books or any other written documents created by both internal and external authors, and provide suggestive and remedial feedback to enhance the quality. The candidate must have preferred experience in interacting with external authors to enhance the quality of the written materials. The candidate must also be diligent to create and maintain editing checklists and review standards and have the ability to work standalone as well as with a team with minimum supervision.
The job would entail reviewing documents to identify and correct issues (or suggest corrections, improvements, and enhancements) in the following domains (indicative):

  • English grammar issues
  • Content clarity, repetition, and redundancy
  • Content relevance and depth issues, depending on the audience profile
  • Befitting writing style/presentation
  • Awkward sentence constructions
  • Consistency issues
  • General structure and flow of the content
  • Ability to review case studies and business scenarios for academic and real-life relevance
  • Professional and practical relevance of the content in context with Management principles and practices
  • Professional and formal writing standards
  • Ability to differentiate between different types of content required for different purposes (Textbooks and Distance Learning Programs)
  • Other ID Issues

The candidate must also be open to interact with external outsourcing authors and provide remedial feedback. The candidate must possess excellent command over written and spoken English, the ability to analyze written content and give suggestive feedback to improve the quality, the ability to mentor and guide people on formal business writing standards and practices, and be comfortable working with track changes and comments in Microsoft Word.
