The present book is meant for the first-year students of various universities. Engineering
educationists feel that the first-year students of all disciplines must have an elementary
and general idea about various branches of electronics.
B. Somanathan Nair is currently working as a Visiting Professor in the Department of
Optoelectronics, University of Kerala, Thiruvananthapuram. Formerly, he was the Principal
of Government Engineering Colleges at Idukki and Kottayam. He was also the Professor
and Head, Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering in the Government
Engineering Colleges at Thiruvananthapuram and Kannur, and was the Joint Director of
Technical Education, Kerala. He was the first Controller of Examinations, Kannur University.
He had been a member of the faculty, Department of Electrical Engineering, University of
Idaho, USA. He was member of the Syndicate, Senate and Academic Council of Mahatma
Gandhi University, Kottayam. Professor Nair has a teaching experience of more than 38
years and is the author of fourteen textbooks in the area of Electronics and Communication
Engineering.
S.R. Deepa is Director and Professor in Prof. B.S. Nair’s Institute of Electronics
Engineering, Thiruvananthapuram. She has over 24 years of teaching experience. She is
the author of four textbooks in the area of Electronics and Communication Engineering.
